What is Jacketed Halogen infrared heating lamps ?

A halogen lamp is a kind of gas-fillet tungsten filament lamp. Its gas consists of not only inert gas which is commonly use in gas-filled lamp technology, but also small trace of halogen material.

These halogen gases react chemically with tungsten inside the bulb to form halides. As the tungsten filament heats up and evaporates, the tungsten atoms react with the halogen gases to form tungsten halides. When the tungsten halides approach the hot tungsten filament, they decompose into tungsten and halogen gases.
This cyclic process causes tungsten to be continuously deposited on the filament, extending the life of the filament while maintaining the performance of the bulb. The halogen cycle ensures constant infrared efficiency throughout the service life while preventing the quartz glass tube from blackening.

Conventional incandescent lamps lose their light fluxgradually during the operation, due to tungsten vapor accumulation on inner bulb surfaces (blackening phenomenon). Halogen lamps do not have this slow deterioration thanks to a chemical process that is called “halogen cycle”.
