Softening the PET Pre – form: PET blowing involves taking a pre – formed tube – like structure of PET and inflating it to form a bottle or a container. Before inflation, the pre – form needs to be softened. The heat lamp provides the necessary thermal energy to raise the temperature of the PET to its glass – transition temperature range (around 70 – 100°C depending on the grade of PET). At this temperature, the PET becomes pliable and can be easily blown into the desired shape.
Uniform Heating: The combination of halogen and IR heat helps in achieving uniform heating of the PET pre – form. Uniform heating is crucial because any cold spots or unevenly heated areas can lead to defects in the final blown product such as thin – walled regions, warping, or improper shape formation.
